Why Have I Had Nipple Pain And Itching For A Couple Years?

I’ve had nipple pain and itching for a couple years and the pain is getting more often. I found a random scan on my nipple one morning last week and now I’m having stinging pain in the same area. I’m not pregnant and haven’t breastfed for 5 years. I don’t feel any odd lumps, but it be breast cancer?
