Why Having Headaches, Dizziness And Weakness Everyday After Soft Ball Hit Eyebrow?

I was hit on my right eyebrow by a softball traveling between 45-50 mph, two years ago. Ever since I have a headache every day in that spot and recently I have been getting extremely dizzy and weak. The area around my eyebrow is still numb and has a knot. Is there anything that could be wrong?

You likely suffered a mild concussion at the time you were struck even though you may not have lost consciousness. A softball traveling at any velocity and striking directly in the center of the front of the head will cause sufficient jarring of the brain inside the skull that headaches afterward are commonly seen. Post traumatic or post concussion headaches usually resolve over a period of time (months to several years) so you still may very well resolve the headaches. As far as the knot is concerned I imagine that is a bit of a scar in the form of a calcium deposit of some sort. Did you perhaps have a bruise in that area after being struck? But otherwise, I don't believe there's anything else majorly wrong. If the headaches are bothersome and interfere with you then, you should seek out a headache specialist. There are medications that we can prescribe for such headaches if persistent (NOT NARCOTICS which some physicians tend to prescribe). Good luck. If you have more specific questions on this topic please feel free to write a question specifically to my attention on this network (Dariush Saghafi, MD) or you are also welcome to look me up for live webcam conferencing at www.healthtap.com/drsaghafi.
