Why Is Brintellix Recommended To A Person Suffering From Anxiety?

Are you familiar with the medication Brintellix and what it is used to treat? I am a retired (2 yrs ago) law enforcement officer (28 years of service) and have suffered with anxiety and some depression, for about 20 yrs. I was prescribed Lexapro (20 mg once a day at bedtime) and Buspirone (10 mg twice a day) about 2 years ago and stopped taking Paxil, since it was no longer working (I took Paxil for 10+ yrs). Recently, I began seeing a new Psychiatrist and began taking Brintellix 10 mg; Doctor kept me on Buspirone and stopped the Lexapro. Lately, I wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety and cannot go back to sleep. I do not recall this happening while on Lexapro. Is this the new medication causing this. I have been taking Brintellix for about 2 1/2 weeks. I am a white male, 510 200 lbs, who otherwise is in great shape and has no other medical problems. I do not smoke and rarely drink alcohol. What are your professional thoughts on this?

* However, there are certain side effects that should be discussed with the treating physician before consuming , which are

- hypersensitivity as rashes

- abdomen bloating

- nausea

- low appetite

- constipation

- headache

- sexual dysfunction

- severe problems with concurrent use of MAO inhibitor drugs (as Serotonin syndrome)

- sodium level problems

- others
