Why Is Regestrone Prescribed For Scanty Menstrual Bleeding?

I m 25 yrs old unmarried girl I got ma period on 26th Dec17 the flow was proper during periods bt I din got ma periods In the month of Jan n after dat I got ma period on 24th Feb n hardly it was 10 to 15 drops of blood in a day. I went to Dr she did urine test n it was negative she told me to take regestrone 5 mg tablets for 7 days. I. M worried y she suggested me this tablet

Hi, regesterone is a progesterone containing tablet which is given for inducing periods if periods get delayed and pregnancy test is negative. It will induce a withdrawal bleeding. I think you should go for evaluation for the irregular periods. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin levels and a ultrasound for your uterus and ovaries done. It can be due to some thyroid disorder or may be polycystic ovaries. You may need some hormonal treatment. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
