Why Is An Ultrasound Taken While Suffering From Elevated Liver Enzymes?
I have been binge drinking 4 or 5 nights a week for approximately a year. I went to the doctor for a routine physical, and the nurse called me today to say my liver enzymes were elevated, and they wanted to schedule an ultrasound of my liver. I was unable to talk to the doctor. What is the purpose of the ultrasound?

Elevated liver enzymes is a possible sequence of drinking alcohol. It's not clear which enzymes are elevated. There may be some unusual elevation in different enzymes which definitely needs an ultrasound to look in to other pathologies leading to these enzymes elevation other than alcohol.
