why ferrous ascorbate is superior than other iron preparations how much there will be rise in h.b. after consuming 30 tabs. of 100 mg.elemental iron?

welcome to healthcaremagic.com.iron is mainly absorbed as the Fe+2 ion and as heme iron. Ferric iron is absorbed very poorly. Ascorbic acid ( vitamin C ) helps keep the iron in the +2 state and forms a complex that is more easliy absorbed in the enterocyte.therapeutic dose of 3-6 mg/kg/day of elemental iron causes increase in 0.25-0.40 increase in HB per day.
