Why Is It Painful To Swallow Food And Beverages?

I m having painful swallowing food and beverages, both hot and cold. It feels like food doesn t want to go down and I get immediate pressure in upper abdomen and shortness of breath. I m taking pantoprazole (2 weeks) and anti-acid tablets aren t helping. I now feel a lot of pressure in my left upper abdomen. It started 4 days ago. I took my evening meds and felt terrible pressure as if a pill was stuck. I drank a lot of water and ate a slice of bread and drank some more. The pressure just got worse, I became nauseated and vomited. Any ideas?

You may have some structural abnormality in esophagus and stomach. These symptoms are not likely to be just due to acid peptic disease (commonly called acidity) for which pantoprazole is prescribed.
You should consult a doctor, preferably a surgeon at earliest convenient time. You don't have to rush to emergency but go see a doctor as soon as possible.
Hope this answers your question.
