Why would a new (on call Dr. since my PCP on vacation) prescribe a very powerful Antibiotic LEVOFLOXACIN for a quickly diagnosed sinus infection (my symptoms were moderate but chronic & painful) instead of finding out if I d had success without side effects with other antibiotics??? Today was my 3rd dose at 500mg. Yesterday after 2nd dose I had some queasiness and bad back pain (worse than usual). Today 15 minutes after I took the 3rd dose (1 daily) I started feeling poorly: faster pulse & flushing & mild dizziness & maybe increase in blood pressure/hypertension. I was NOT URGENT rather unwell & concerned. The Dr. Refused to talk with me but had his desk person tell me to come into my office or go to ER -- not good or practical options. I felt unable to drive. The local ER is a 4 hr wait to be seen. I didn t want paramedics coming. Dr s office a long drive with much hi way traffic. I SIMPLY NEEDED TO SPEAK WITH DR OR HOPE TO GET A VISITING NURSE (not possible or eligible). Back to the Rx: I read the long list of side effects on this website and was alarmed at the number of complications & even some deaths of patients. Thanks for your input & answers.
