Why Is My Cheekbone Inflamed And Sore?

I have a deep and quite strong pain to the left of my left eye where it meets with the top of the cheeckbone. The very tops of my gums, where they would meet close to the bottom of the cheek are also sore to touch. The whole area is very tender and feels swollen.
