Why Is My Heart Rate So High??

Im 15 yrs old 6 1 tall and 221 lbs and when I exercise like running my heart rate soars to 180+. I don t know if it s because I m out of shape, or if its heart problems like heart disease. P.S heart disease runs in the family

if your out of shape and you are exercising a lot then your heart beat is going ot be really high. Just so long as it doesn't go over 200 your probably good. still though if it worries you, you certainly dont loose anything by getting it checked out at the doctor. especially if heart problems run in your family. also if it really bothers you try drinking more water before you go work out.

During a heavy exercise like running having a heart rate of 180 is on a higher side. Since you are obese and have a family history of heart disease it is best to get yourself examined and investigated for any heart disease. In most of the cases such a raised heart rate comes back to normal in 10-15 minutes after exercise.

Hello.Welcome.According to your age your exercise should be strenuous enough to raise heart rate to 75% of Maximal heart rate (MHR) for 10 to 15 minutes.In your case it should be 220-15 =205. 75% of this is app. 154. Since your heart rate soars to more than 180 and you have a negative family history you should consult a cardiologist and get your self investigated.Good luck.
