Why Is My Son Sticking His Tongue In And Out?

my 2-1/2 year old has a slight fever and cough and I just noticed he was sticking his tongue out as he is laying down (sticking in and out several times) he s tired and seems like he s about to fall asleep. Is this something I should be concerned with?
