Why Is Person Not Hospitalized Even When Heart Is Functioning At 20%?

I was told yesterday my heart is functioning at 20%, I was told Ihad a heart attack at some point, which I did not know. If this is so bad why am I not in the hospital but only having an angiogram next week. I was told all my blood work is normal or within range I don t understand

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Normal average heart pumping is 60%. It means that 60% of blood is ejecting in every beat and not 100 %.

You have 20% pumping because after a heart attack some part of the heart muscle got permanently damaged. It is definitely low pumping but still you can manage normal life with adviced medicines. No need for hospitalisation until you have any immediate symptoms.

Angiogran is necessary because sometimes pumping can be improved if we can improve the blood supply of heart muscle. So go for Angiogran and continue medicines, your doctor has advised you.
