Why Is Pregnancy Test Still Positive After Administering Mifegest Kit Procedure?

hi,i have completed mifegest kit procedure today(12/02/2014) started on 10th feb,since my last period date was 18th dec 2013...but there was no heavy bleeding,only abdominal pain was gng on and litlle bit bleeding was continued,yet i checked by pregnancy kit it showing postive.after how many days i will came to know the correct result ?

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

It seems that you had an incomplete abortion. Mifegest works best in early pregnancy within 40-50 days. You have used it later. Usually this will need additional doses of misoprostol for completing the process or may even need a surgical procedure.

I suggest that you visit your clinician for additional doses of misoprostol [if needed] after a vaginal examination and an ultrasound.

Also even if you have had a complete abortion the urine test kit may still show a positive result up to 4 weeks in some cases depending upon how big the pregnancy was and the pre abortion levels. So try testing it after 2 weeks and then again weekly till 4 weeks. But as you have not had much bleeding I suggest that you visit your clinician to see if additional drugs are needed.
