I just had a cold sore and used and AHA peel to dry it out and I am afraid I burned the skin and now have scar tissue. It scabbed and was healing but I had to remove it and wear makeup now the skin is white and a bit raised and tender will this heal normally what does it sound like?
The AHA peel would have definitely burnt the area as suggested by scab formation. Moreover, peeling the scab was not the right thing to do as it would have exposed raw pink skin, prone to bacterial infection.
The aim now is to allow the skin to heal while treating/preventing secondary bacterial infection
I would suggest that you take an oral antibiotic e.g Amoxycillin 500 mg Or Cephalexin 500 mg for a week and topically apply an OTC antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily. That should make it fine within a week
