Why Should I Consult Balance Doctor Instead Of ENT Doctor?

hello...I was given an appointment to see a balance doctor... I m not sure what that is but I am having some dull ear pain on one or both ears for about 2 months now and I notice that I stumble a lot like I am drunk and I get dizzzy...why a balance doctor and not an ENT?

Hi,

System for balancing is situated in the inner ear of body. It includes special nerves and structure, which help in maintaining the balance. Your referring doctor may think that you might be having a problem of balancing and has referred you to more specific subspecialty doctor.

Also, act of balancing is not only action of ear but besides the vestibular system (Situated in inner Ear), sense of touch and vision are also important for maintaining the proper balance. Hence, there appears a need of a balance doctor in place of an ENT in your case.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
