Why Should Vastatin Be Taken In The Evening?

Good evening, doctor. Today I was prescribed vistantin 20mg. The bottle reads to take in the evening. What is the reason for this. I work from 4:00 pm until 7:30 am. I could not find the answer in the available internet info and no information so inserts were included by the pharmacy. Thank you. Sister . Martin

Because it is more effective in reducing cholesterol levels in the evening.

Vastatin (Simvastatin or Atorvastatin) is effectively used in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia (high blood cholesterol levels) to prevent heart disease due to atherosclerosis.

It acts by inhibiting the endogenous production of cholesterol in the liver, which is at peak during evening hours. Taken at night therefore, there's a greater reduction in cholesterol than when it's taken in the morning.
