Why The Doctor Is Prescribing Albuterol Every Time?

Hi, Doctor my son coughs on and off since he was young. It's gets better and then worse at times. There is points to where it completely goes away but shortly creeps back upon the lips of my child. I was getting worried with my pediatrician due to she is always trying to force albuterol into the diagnoses. Which members of my family at his age were put on this stuff and now they can't go a day with out. There is no cases of asthma on moms side nor mine. So I don't believe that my son has asthma. The cough sounds like phlegm is in his throat, no wheezing or stuffy nose. Just a cough that will last a day or so then vanish into the dawn but as I said it will return like a pest. Can you advise me on why my doctor is all about the albuterol when she does not know the cause. I actually had to tell her that the albuterol is not a good source of action can you think of anything else and she would reply " he is to young to do any further testing".
