Why There Is Numbness On Lips And No Elasticity Which Seems Better When Lip Balm Applied?

for the past months, my upper lip has experienced numbness. it's a feeling of tape over it and no elasticity. i apply lip balm and it will feel a bit more normal and i can smile and laugh without feeling too weird but as soon as the lip balm wears off, i feel a tightness on my upper lip again and it feels a bit numb.

please advise. thank you!

Hello there!
thank you for asking. Usually perioral / lips numbness is multietiologic and needs work up. but s you said balming it relieves the symptoms so i am sure only innocuous cause is responsible here like cold exposure or simple anxiety. But if the problem persists i would recommend a visit to GP to work out the etiology for you as this numbness can get as dangerous as lethal.

Good Luck
S Khan
