Why Was Additional Fat Tissue Put Into My Lower Lip?

I had a melanoma removed from my lower lip a week ago by plastic surgeon, it was quite a lenght along the lip. He also took some fat tissue from my groin and put into lower lip, I have stiches in both corners of my mouth, this I was not expected. Why is this done.

Regarding your query, since quite a large bit of your lip would have been removed with the melanoma it would have left a gap or depression in the shape of your lips.
By normal procedure, this missing fat tissue has to be replaced to give back the normal curve n fullness of your lips for which similar fat from other parts(groin) was used. It is to give a natural aesthetic appearance. The stitches also are similarly for the same reason, to close the gap following the procedure and will be removed as advised by your surgeon.
The final result is to give you the most natural look with least scarring, and also to prevent chances of leftover tumor cells or recurrence of the tumor.
If you feel it is not healing well, do consult your treating doctor to take a look at it and reassure you.
