Why Was The Vision Affected Due To A Shock?

Some time ago I trapped my thumb in a steel widow frame which I was closing because of heavy rain. The shock resulted in two things: my visionwas like looking through the wrong end of a telescope for about a minute and my body temperature shot up so quickly that my clothes were soaked in sweat. After a while I was able to recover but had to have stitches in the damaged thumb. Why was my vision affected in this way and why the sudden very sharp increase in body temperature?
