Why Would Taking Metformin For Diabetes Cause Headache?
1 year ago, I was prescribed levothyroxine for my thyroid and crestor for my colesterol......now they tell me I am a type-2 diabetic and have added metformin 500 mg twice per day for the last two weeks.....my blood sugar is still high, always around 250-300 after a meal and the metformin gives me headaches and make my stomach feel weird. I am a 55 year old male who uses skoal about 3 cans per weeks.....Does the skoal have any effect on my type - 2 diabetes and what about taking the levothyroxine/crestor with it....I am always tired.....any suggestions...

Welcome to HCM
Skoal has no effect on Diabetes but it and Diabetes combined has bad effect on the body .
Gastric upset can be a side effect of Metformin and if its too severe you can ask your doctor to change it to other medicine . Also since with only metformin your sugars are not controlled you definitely requires another sugar medicine ( Sitagliptin is a good option )
But I don't think your headache is due to Metformin . KIndly get your BP checked as high BP can cause Headache . Also get your eyes tested as eye problem can also cause headache .
You feel tired because of your uncontrolled sugars , once they come to control you will feel better. You can ask your doctor for a prescription of multivitamins+ anti oxidants . they will help you feel more energetic .
