10 POINTS! PULSE RATE QUESTIONS ! i.e why would you take your resting pulse rate before performing it? 1. why did you take your resting pulse rate before performing the lab 2. If you were experimenting testing your pulse rate, what experimental errors could have affected your conclusion? 3. Besides the wrist what other sites on the body where on can take a pulse ? why these sites? 4. when one takes a pulse, is one feeling an artery or vien? explain 5. why do you think holding your breath or breathing into a bag affects the pulse rate ?

Hi peter,
Resting pulse is the baseline against which rate of increase on activities measure, somany sites you can see arterial pulse like carotid in neck, brachial in elbow, axillary in axilla, dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial in foot, femoral in groin and many more. pulse is felt only in artery as veins are non pulstle. breath holding and breathing tobag increase CO2 level in blood and changes intrathorasic pressure so pulse will increase.
