Will Copaxone, Avonex Or Plegridy Help Treat Multiple Sclerosis Better?

I have MS and my doctor has given me the choice of Copaxone (which she likes) and Avonex, and Plegridy to chose from. I was just reading up on all three and all 3 are pretty scary. I m not sure which to chose. It is the side affects that bother me they are worse then the disease, I think.

Hi,

You are right, the side effects must be in mind for such drugs. For this reason treatment for every patient with MS is not recommended. (there is a criteria who should be treated).

We only recommend treating those patients where the benefit of treatment should clearly be much more than any risk posed by the drug. And in such patients, the benefits can be seen. Side effects are not common though possible, the benefit of treatment is much more then any risk if judiciously used.

And yes, Copaxone is favored among the mentioned drug though there are newer agents available which may be even better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
