Will Gleevec Treatment Help To Increase Platelet When Suffering From Acute Leukemia?
Hi sir,
My aunt is suffering from accute leukemia, was diagonised only a month back. Her platlet count has come down to 20000, when transfused on a lakh. may i know if there are any treatment for the platelets to increase or what stage this would be. I learnt that there is a Gleevec treatment, can you advise where in south india (bangalore / andhra) this is treated. will gleevec treatment really help my aunt to survive. She is a diabitic patient too.

She has acute leukemia. Treatment depends on type of acute leukemia and stage of leukemia. You should go for typing of acute leukemia whwther it is acute myeloid or lymphoid or other.
Treatment is chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation.
