white patch started appearing on my son's lower lip a year back. we started using Lukoskin - both oral and external ointment + sun exposure (DRDO researched medicine) from the onset itself. Lower lip seems to be stable now but on the upper lip vitiligo has spread. while still taking medication , it keeps gradually spreading. Does this medicine work on lips? or it is better to switch to Allopathy ? Blood, Thyroid, stool, vitamin all within range.
Lukoskin contains herbal psoralens which in combination with sun exposure stimulated melanogenesis.
Lip vitiligo is a difficult site to treat and sometimes even resistant to treatment. Response is slow if at all. It is advisable to continue the current medication for at least 2-3 more months because the response is slow and delayed sometimes.
In addition to that I put my patients of slow spreading vitiligo on Oral Levamisole 2 consequtive days/week (every saturday and sunday). It is an immunomodulator and recommended for slowly spreading vitiligo along with topical medications.
Hope this helps you
