Will UTI Affect Embryo Transfer?

Hello Doctor. My daughter-in-law is going through her 2nd cycle of IVF. She had her ET transfer on 20th. On 24th she had very slight brown spotting and did a urine test. Today the doctor says it is urinary tract infection. Will it affect the embryo?

Hello and welcome.

The UTI could have resulted from the ET process itself (needs confirmation), but I doubt it would affect the embryo in any way. If at all required, the fertility specialist will prescribe antibiotics to battle the infection, nothing more would be required.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
