Will Alcohol Consumption Lead To Increase In Heart Beat?

I was wondering if it is common for alcohol consumption to cause an increase in heart rate. Maybe not so much an increase, but just a very strong heart beat. I am nearly 40, and drink occasionally. I really enjoy to have a couple of glasses of wine, or beer. However, everytime I do, I can t sleep. I am afraid I am going to have to give up drinking all together, if I value my sleep. I am quite disturbed by it.

Hi
There is a definite relationship between alcohol and palpitations.
But reason may be multifactorial.
But among them holiday heart syndrome, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation occurring after a binge of alcohol due to cardiomyopathy is an important entity. U need detailed work up including ECG, chest xray and echo cardiography
Consult your doctor

Thank you
