Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
sir,my mom 53yrs had major heart attack she got treatment after 6hours,25%heart get damage involved apex and septum, they are akinetic after 10hrs of attack and EF=45%,doctors did her angioplasty after 24 hours to remove her 90% blocked LAD.Is procedure will improve her heart's function and will help in reviving tissues.what are complications in future we expect?what is prognosis of case.she is non DM and not hypertensive.
dear,EF of 45% is a good EF,even people of EF of 30 % lead a normal life.90% of patients of previous heart attack have at least one and usually two or more lifestyle related cardiovascular risk factors such as poor diet sedentary lifestyle or smoking. These risk factors are likely to have contributed to their heart disease.First thing is should should prevent now another attack, for this there should be dietary modification and life style modification, she should avoid oily food ,eat more green leafy vegetables and fruits, she should go for morning brisk walking, reduce stress and anxiety.Apex and septum is akintic but if it THIN as well then its not reversible, thinnning out heart tissue means heart demage is irreversible and on ecg there will be Q waves and poor R wave progreesion, her prognosis is good if she sticks treatment regiment and life style modification
