Will Calcium Dobecylate And Lekast Tablet Have Any Adverse Effect On Pregnancy?

Dear doctor My wife has taken calcium dobecylate tablets (8 Nos), Lekast tablet ((3 Nos) and Rimrose tablet (4 Nos) during the last month. During this time she confirmed her third pregnancy, but only after consuming the above tablets. when she consulted the doctor, he asked her to stop all immediately. She is little bit worried that this would have any adverse effect on the child. Pls advise us. Her age is 33.

Hello,
Calcium dobesilate has been classified as a category C drug in pregnancy and this means the animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. Lekast has been classed under category B which means no teratogenic effects have been shown in animal studies. There are no known human studies in both the above cases. Primrose oil has been claimed as unsafe in pregnancy. You can ask your doctor for tests for fetal anomalies using genetic markers and fetal DNA sampling, to detect any changes early on. Hope this helps.
