Hello there, I have recently changed my contraceptive pill. I was taking ovranette since i was 18 and I am now 19 (20 this year) so I have been on it for just over a year. I took my pill on the normal day I was meant to start taking it, and on the 8th day of taking it I went to the docter and had it changed as I had been having irregular and painful periods that were too frequent and wanted to see if a change of pill would work. I was wandering a couple of things. Do i take the full packet of new pills or do i stop when i should normally? Also will changing the pill stop the effectiveness while I am new to it? thank you for your time.
You need to take the full packet of the new pills. Since the new pills may have a different composition in different dosages, it is better to wait 2 weeks for the pill to be completely effective in protecting against pregnancy.
