Will Child Have Nurofibromatosis (NF1) When Both Parents Have Nurofibromatosis?

Dr. I would be very much thankful to you if suggested me , I m the patient of Nurofibromatosis (NF1) and even my better half suffers from the same so is there a possibility that our child will also have it , or is there any way to protect our child from being a victim of Nurofibromatosis ?

Detailed answer:In my opinion,there may be high chances for the baby to inherit a defective gene copy if both parents suffer from neurofibromatosis.I would advise you to get a proper genetic counselling prior to conception,to know the possible risks and suggestions for the well being of your future child .There is no cure for this disease,only can prevent the complications associated by careful observation,regular checkups like eye,heart etc.Hope this information helps you.If any further questions,happy to answer you.Take care.
