Will Delusions/schizophrenia End Up After Removing The Drug?

Hi, I am inquiring about a young adult who has been diagnosed with drug induced delusional schizo after a hit and run accident. Once the drug is removed, would the delusions / schiz. episodes end or is there permanent damage from the use of street drugs?

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Drug induced psychosis stays only for few days or months and it improve with treatment course. After that whether medication be continued or not, that depends upon the patient motivation. Most of patient get 100% recovery from psychotic symptoms and remain drug free, but some patients due to internal damage stay with symptoms for rest of their life, due to which they stay on drug.

Thanks
