Hey, hope you will be fine sir. My grandmother, 68 year old, suffering from Diabetes mellitus and hypertensive. she is taking meicine[glymprimide+metformin,,B1 blocker and Ca-channel blockers+Competitive inhibitors of ACE] but the problem is that she has got low grade intermittent fever{99-100F} that is relieved without any medication in 12-24 hours. What is the most probably cause, is it related to Diabetes? what should we do?
The low grade intermittent fever of your grandmother might be related to possible viral infection. Usually, diabetic patients have more chances to get infection as compared to others.
Furthermore, as she is also suffering of hypertension, a possible blood clotting or blood vessels inflammation could be causing low grad fever.
I suggest to get her checked by a cardiologist to rule out blood clotting, and take proper measures in time.
I also advise to: - give her plenty of water - let her take her medicines regularly - keep monitoring her blood pressure/sugar level - give her acetaminophen for fever and pain
Hope it was of help! Dr.Albana
