Will Diabetes Or Metformin Affect Sexual Life?

Hie, I am 29years old a female..my height is 1.5m and weighing 80kg.My husband haa been diagonised with type 2 diabetes he weighs 85kg,height 1.7m and he is 36 years old. His sugar levels now range from 5.1mmol/L to 8mmol/L is it now normal.what is the ideal weight? He is taking metformin waa diagonised on the 22nd of June 2011. Will diabetes or metformin affect his sexual ability?

Dear Madam,
Both of you have to lose weight. The ideal weight for you will be 50-55kgs. your husband's ideal weight will be 70-75kgs. Do not try for drastic weight reduction as it is harmful. the ideal target should be losing 5-10% of body weight in the next 6months. The good news is that if your husband loses weight he might be able to control his sugars only with diet and exercise. The answer to the most important part of your question is NO.His sexual ability will not be hampered because of metformin or Diabetes. Metformin in an age old drug which is good without any major side effects. Coming to diabetes it is in your hands, Till his blood sugars are under control his sex life will not be affected in anyway.
