Will Discontinuing Norethisterone Cause Vaginal Bleeding?

hi had my periods now for 13days they were 3wks late time before that went into 8wks,took really heavy bleeding 3 days ago was prescibe norethisteron 5mg 3 dail bleeding has eased just a bit of a discharge after 2 days, taken headachs and feeling really tired dont like the side effects Im hearing from others who have been on this med what would happen now if i stop will the bleeding return is ther an alternitive med
