Hi my name is Amber I m 24 I have two children 7 and 4 last year around this time I received an abortion everything went normal. For the last two months I ve noticed when me and my husband have sex and he ejaculate inside me I bleed the next day and I bleed for about a week but when he doesn t I dont bleed. I went to my ob and she ran all the blood work tests and pap they all came back negative what could it be?
This is a curious problem as the bleeding is only present in the presence of semen. Here is one theory. Semen contains a substance that is a type of prostaglandin. This causes cramping/contractions of the uterus. This might suggest that there is something inside the uterus that tends to bleed in the setting of the extra substance in the semen.
Regardless, the main cause of the bleeding is intercourse, suggesting something anatomic related to the cervix or the uterus. This might simply represent an endometrial polyp. A re-visit to your OB and request for an ultrasound of the uterus is indicated.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
