mom is 94 & hospice nurse prescribed ceferin for possible uti. if she doesn't end up having a uti, is frequent use of antibiotics going to make them less effective when she actually needs one? also if they suspect sinus or bronchial bacteria, what kind of tests should they do? I believe her so called frequent urination only occurs with certain caretakers who smother mom when their anxieties.
I have gone through your query & can understanding your concern
Frequent use of antibiotics is harmful. It can cause resistance of bacteria & causes loss of effectiveness of drug. Also it causes loss of good bacterial flora in intestine causing stomach upset. It can have also other side effects too. First of all your mom's urine examination should be done. Presence of bacteria, pus cells, epithelial cells or Rbc will suggest infection. Once infection in urine is confirmed, Only then antibiotics should be prescribed.
Hope your query has been solved. Good luck
