Will I Be OK After The Treatment For Pleural Effusion ?
hi hope u well sir i got pleural effusion 2 years ago it was just fluid , doctor decided to asspirate it , but he asspirates just 20 ml, here in pakistan doctors advice me T.B drugs, my blood E.S.R was normal, i use them 8 months as they prescribe, but after two years i got pain, another doctor advice for X-ray & after then ct scan chest, ct scan report show that it is Abscess , A surgeon try to Asspirate it but it was so thick & he asspirate 5 ml, he send the specimen for culture after 48 hrs report is normal gram stain no bacteria seen Z N stain no afb seen Fungul prep no fungus seen Culture Aerobically Organism No Growth is obtained incubation period 48hrs incubation temp 37 C sir last monday doctor oprate me & put a drain it to pleural wall after 4 days they remove the drain , now m feeling ok but sir im so scared that if it grow up again ... plz tell me or advice me any treatment please waiting for your kind reply Kamran

Hi,Kamran thanks for query.What you had is not a routine thing.Take good diet and live a healthy life this will not happen again.Any infection can set in one body defense is weak so take care of it.Please avoid tobacco in any form if your taking.

Since you are having sterile pleural effusions, the cause is less likely due to infection or TB. They have not mentioned in the report if any malignant cells are seen or not as it is an important cause of recurrent pleural effusion. It could also be due to other causes like Thyroid problem, Rheumatoid arthritis. Kindly as the Doctor why you are getting recurrent pleural effusion. Is it on one or both sides of chest.
