Hi. I am a 22 year old lady. I had acne problem since 5-6 years. After consulting a dermatologist, i took isotretinoin 40 mg/day for 2 months and then 20mg/day for 1 month and then 10mg/day for 15 days. Now my face is absolutely clear, although acne impressions are there. I want to stop the medicine. I am suffering hair loss as well. My derm want to continue it for 2 months more. Please suggest.
Some amount of increased hair shedding is one of the side effects of oral isotretinoin, this is usually not much of a concern in most of the patients on isotretinoin and some never ever complain about it. Moreover, this is reversible on completion of course.
Therefore I would suggest that you continue with oral isotretinoin for the recommended duration to avoid any chance of relapse of acne.
regards
