Will Lithium, Ativan And Remeron Assist During Nervous Breakdown Caused By Bipolar Disorder?

I had a nervous breakdown. I was diagnosed with bi-polar disease with psychotic features. I got paranoid. I have been out of the hospital for 9 months now, and am still struggling to get back to myself. I m on lithium 900 mg., ativan and remeron. I m still pretty depressed and slow. I trudge rather than walk. I don t talk that much. I ve been with a doctor for about 4 months. He s cutting back on ativan, which isn t working that well because I just get over anxious, when I cut back, and added Abilify a couple of months ago. It seems to have helped some, but not a lot. This whole process seems to be taking forever. What would you recommend?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello
Yes your doctor is right
All thr drugs mentioned by you help in treatment of Bipolar Disorder
It takes few days to 2 or 3 weeks time for action of drug to show result
Result of first drug depends on its level in the blood so blood level estimation are required .over a certain blood lavel it is known to effect kidney functions so it is still more important to have regular blood monitoring
In my hospital I would have adjusted the doses of first drug depending on blood level and kidney functions results if improvement has not started I would have changed second and third drug
A REGULAR evaluation by psychiatrist will be a good idea for quick response
