Will Lost Sense Of Smell After Taking Puffs Of Flonase Come Back?

I took one dose of Flonase, 2 puffs in each nostril per directions. Then I read that the medicine is a corticosteroid, so I did not take any more. That was two days ago. I have almost no sense of smell. Not even natural gas. I can find several comments from people who also lost their sense of smell as a result of taking Flonase. What I can t find is if after stopping, their sense of smell ever came back. I m hoping my sense of smell will come back. Do you know if it will?

Hi,

Your sense of smell can return after using Flonase, but it can vary from person to person. In most cases, loss of smell is a temporary side effect of using intranasal corticosteroids like Flonase. The good news is that most people regain their sense of smell once they stop using the medication.

It is important to note that loss of smell can also be caused by other factors, such as a viral infection or nasal polyps. If your sense of smell does not return after a few days, it is recommended that you see a doctor for further evaluation.

In the meantime, you may want to try using a saline nasal spray to help alleviate any nasal congestion and improve your sense of smell. You can also try smelling strong scents, such as essential oils or coffee beans, to stimulate your sense of smell. However, be cautious when smelling strong scents to avoid any potential irritants to your nasal passages.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
