Will Marijuana Have Adverse Effect On Toprol?

In the past week my bloodpressure has been high "borderline" about 156/90 on average and my Dr has prescribed a half a dose of 25mg of Toprol each day....I do smoke pot and my Dr knows this, but does marijuana have an adverse effect while on this medication?

Hi,

Toprol is a drug named metoprolol which is used as an antihypertensive and can cause increased heart rate when taken with marijuana. In the long run they may cause reduced appetite, iron deficiency, dizziness, headache, weakness etc. It is best advised to avoid taking the two together. Even a half dose of 25 mg can lead to interactions with marijuana and you can get dysarrhythmia from it.
