Will Marriage Between Cousins Cause Birth Of Abnormal Children?

dear doctor, i am arranging to marry my third cousin but i am worrying a lot about our futur babies,would they be healthy and safe from illmesses and complications considering that we have a lot of serious illnesses in our familly like diabetes,blood pressure,cancer,some physical deformation or mental diseases.i am going to make my decision according to your advice if i should marry him or not because to be honest i am not ready to have any ill or stupid babies with a low IQ. thank you

1. Consanguineous marriage is associated with high risk of genetic anomalies in offsprings.
2. Its difficult to predict the actual risk, but there is a definite risk of Down's syndrome and many more diseases with consanguinity.
3. Even congenital cardiovascular diseases are known to occur.
4. If you are ready to go ahead with consanguineous marriage then, Some of these problems can be detected on prenatal tests.
