Will Mirena Help In Not Getting Heavy Menses?

Hi. I'm thinking of getting a mirena to try and help my heavy periods. I have had a cervical erosion for a few years, saw a gynoclolgist and had the silver nitrate treatment but it is still present. It doesn't really cause much trouble, other than a small amount of blood after sex sometimes. Can I have a mirena if I have this condition?
