Will Mometasone Furoate Reduce The Inflammation Due To Pimple?

Hi! I have an open wound on my face from a popped pimple and am wondering if mometasone furoate cream would help bring down the inflammation. I've got some left over from when I had a rash, and it cleared up the redness very quickly then. Would it help on a large swollen spot on the face?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Mometasone furoate is a steroid and though steroids are antiinflammatory but they should never be used for acne.
Steroids are in fact contraindicated for acne. Indiscriminate use of potent topical fluorinated steroids can in turn cause more acne
You seem to have inflammatory acne; popping would do more harm than good as it may push acne lesion further deep and it might also leave behind unsightly marks/scars and pigmentation.
If I was the treating doctor I would have started you on oral antibiotics for acne. Either, Doxycycline or Minocycline would have been my choice.
Besides oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics like clindamycin or Topical benzoyl peroxide gel can be used for topical application.
Antiacne medicines are prescription products and I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for assessment of acne severity and appropriate management.
