Will My Bleeding Stop If I Take Minipill?

i have just come off the mini pill (i had my normal period 2 weeks ago) but started bleeding again 6 days ago, in that time came off the pill 3 days ago. Will this bleeding now stop:( if not, can i take norethisterone to stop the bleeding, if only for a short time

Hi,

Mini pill, progesterone only pill sometimes can present with inter-menstrual bleeding as a side effect. Missing the pill or altering the time of intake of pill can also lead to bleeding. One of these could be the possible cause of your inter-menstrual bleeding. Now, as you stopped taking the pill, that might have led to a withdrawal effect on endometrium and could be the cause for the continuation of the bleeding.

If this is the cause, Norethisterone can help. Using the medicine for a short time again will lead to withdrawal bleeding. It should be used as mimicking natural cycle. But better to use any medicine with doctor's advice only. Please consult your gynecologist, get examined and use medicines with her advice.
