Will Period Stop After Having Nur-isterate Contraceptive Injection?

Hi,i had the nur-isterate contreceptive injection on the 8th November 2012 i had it on the first day of my preiod however i would like to know i've heard some womans periods stop altogether but can your period stop just a few weeks into having the injection?
