Will Prominent Fluid Found In Part Of The Brain Effect Mental Health Of The Foetus?
I had an ultrasound yesterday (32w) and they found prominent fluid on the part of the brain that they check to ensure it has fused together but they couldnt give me any more information... I m scared that my baby wont be mentally healthy and It s killing me having to wait for the doctor at the hospital to get back to me.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Fluid in the fetal brain can be dilated ventricle, or fluid accumulation in any part of the brain matter. The prognosis of the baby depends upon the anomaly present. It may be due to chromosomal anomaly or may be an isolated finding. I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that you can get a detailed anomaly ultrasound, amniocentesis if needed and further management should be done accordingly.
