Will Surgery On A Fractured Toe Allow Me To Walk?

I have got committed fracture of proximal phalanx of left great toe. It has been fixed via surgery (open reduction and internal fixation). with 2 k wires and cast. How long will it take to heal completely and when can I resume normal walking and driving?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
It normally takes weeks to months to heal depending on the severity of the fracture. It might take you more than a month to get back to your daily routine. For quicker recovery I would suggest you to have calcium supplements and have more exposure to sunlight so you have adequate amount of vitamin D in your body which is good for bones.
A treatment with calcitriol with Initial dose of 0.25 microgram orally once a day till a week and 0.25 mcg/dose at 4 to 8 week intervals.
