Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Will Taking Cilacar Help Reduce Hypertension And BP?
Dear Doc, I am 46 yrs old with accelerated hypertension with a BP of 180/ 109 constantly. I was prescribed Cilacar 5 mg twice daily, at this time until abdomen ultrasound and renal doppler is conducted, after undergoing all tests ( ECG, echo). triglycerides is 203. Cilacar has somewhat reduced my BP, 160s/98-100s. Any suggestions from your side doc. I have a family history of cardiac disease where both my parents died of this. My sis died of liver cancer.
I read your question and I understand your concern. Those values are indeed high and should be lowered. Cilacar is an effective treatment for high blood pressure, however only one medication is not always enough to achieve adequate control. In your case while values are somewhat lower they are still not where they should be and I think another drug should be added. Don't worry there are many options out there to choose from, several classes like beta-blockers (metoprolol, bisoprolol etc), ACE inhibitors (lisinopril, ramipril etc), ARBs (valsartan, irbesartan etc) and others. They are prescription drugs though so you should discuss with your doctor which one is more appropriate for you.
I hope to have been of help.
